Hello, we are spending some time between Valencia and Alicante. I have no microscope with me, so I hope someone can identify the genus. I will take it home and try to microscope later. It is very thick. Growing  in an open space on wet red clay.  Surrounding trees were Pinus, Pistazie and unknown flora. The area has limestone. Thanks for the help. -Rebecca
