Fimaria Theioleuca?
Ralph Vandiest, 22-08-2013 21:50
Ralph VandiestHello,

I found this fimaria on deer dung. I think it is F Theioleuca but I have no experience with this genus. Can somebody confirm this?

Characteristics: cup 1mm diam, yellow, J-, asci 8-spored 152/165x13/14µm, spores ellipsoid without reticulum, Q>1,5, spores 14/15x6,5/7,5, paraphyses not swollen at the end.

Regards,

Ralph

Re : Fimaria Theioleuca?
Hello Ralph,

surely not a Pseudombrophila, which is the current name for Fimaria.
Maybe immature Iodophanus carneus?
But the colour seems me a little bit to bright.

Re : Fimaria Theioleuca?
Hello Ralph, hello Norbert,
as far as I know Pseudombrophila has no yellow pigment in the paraphyses. For me the discomycete looks like an immature cheilymenia or something else. Do you tested the spores in cotton blue?
Best, Uwe

Hi Ralph,
to see whether the ascospores have an ornamentation or not.
Best, Uwe
