Need help with this Valsa on Salix, Uppsala, Sweden, 2022-01-29.
Sp. 14-19 x 2,5-3. Asci 8-spored.
No stromatic line as far as I can see. Was thinking about V. ambiens or sordida.
Best regards
Karl

Re : Valsa on Salix
Hi,
Probably V. ambiens because V. sordida usually has much shorter ascospores: 8-12 (-15) x 1-3 um according to Hayova & Minter 1998.

Hi Eduard,
Thanks for your suggestion! It sounds resonable. I actually found V. ambiens on Acer during the same field visit but that specimen had clearly wider spores (3-4), which made me wonder if they were really the same. Is it a reasonable variation in spore size?
Best regards
Karl
