Unknown small operculate asco
Carmel Sammut, 05-02-2014 19:22
Found this specimen on decaying wood in an open area close to conifers (Cupressus and Pinus). The specimens are 7-8mm in diameter, operculate (if I am not mistaken!), J-ve (Lugol), with smooth spores (25.8 x 12.2µm).
There is what appears to be filamentous algae in the squashed section and I am not sure if it is part of this specimen. It looks different from lichenised fungi.

Specimen collected from Buskett, Malta, 31/1/14
Any help is most welcome.
