Dothideomycete with disarticulating spores
Björn Nordén, 01-02-2013 20:18
We found this species on hard dead wood on a standing ancient Ulmus tree in western
Norway.

It is melanommataceous, perithecia ca 0,3 mm diam, black, numerous over 0.5 dm2, conical, no hairs or anamorph, centrum with long filaments, spores very dark brown, very thick-walled, asci cylindrical, thick-walled in entire length, bitunicate.
3-septate with subconical end cells (4.5-5.1 x 4-4.2 mym) and square to rounded
middle cells, late disarticulating, 15-19 x 4,5-5,5 mym, smooth, no germ slit
or pores apparent.

Suggestions very welcome!

Re : Dothideomycete with disarticulating spores
Have you seen disarticulation into ascus or not ?

Perhaps the disarticulated ascpospores are senescent.

Some genus in Pleosporales show disarticulated ascospores, like Ohleria. But the spores break into asci.

Ok, that's well.
I would be interested by this paper, if you can.
