something on Wisteria
William de Jong, 22-02-2021 19:37
Hi,

I found small perithecia on a dead attached branch of Wisteria (sinensis).
Spore size: 8,3-9,3 x 2,4-3,5 µm; average 8,7 x 2,9; n=10.
See pictures. Does anyone have an idea what this might be?

Regards, William

Hi,
can you look carefully to see if the spores are finely striate, for example by colouring them with coton blue? It would be nice to show or describe one complete ascus, too. It's necessary to find  genus or family for this fungus.

Hi Alain,

Thanks for your reply.
I tried to follow up your advice, here are my results.
Unfortunately it was suddenly very difficult to make clear pictures, my apologies.
I didn't find an ascus, it seems to be conidial stuff?
The spores in cotton blue are not striated, I think.

Regards, William

And in addition, it seemed that there were spores inside the plant cells (of Wisteria) too, hyaline and brown ones. Any idea what this might be?

Ah, ok, it's an asexual morph.
Probably close to Phomopsis (look at Diaporthales).
