Ciboria batschiana ?
Joaquin Martin, 21-10-2024 08:54
Hi,

I found this ascomycete on acorn, the habitat and the micro go well with Ciboria batschiana but the color of the apothecia does not convince me.
Any ideas to contribute ?
Thank you, good day.
Joaquin

Re : Ciboria calyculus (batschiana)
Hello Joaquin, I have no problem with the colour of the apothecia. Everything fits as I think. The correct name is Ciboria calyculus.
Best regards, Lothar

Re : Ciboria batschiana ?
In some of the spores, e.g. on the upper right, I clearly see two nuclei (two globose "empty" areas). This is a character of C. calyculus too that the spores are binucleate.

Re : Ciboria batschiana ?
Hi,
Thanks to both of you for the answers.
I add this Ascomycete collected two days after the previous collection at about 50-60 meters on a slope, I can not specify which is the substrate, but as before the micro is the same, the spores somewhat larger (very little). I suppose that it is also Ciboria calyculus, I am still confused by the purple colour, on the internet 'all' the photos of the species are brown in their different tones.
Well, thanks again for your answers.
Joaquin

Re : Ciboria batschiana ?
Your first photo looks likean oak seed. If the apothecia sit on a sclerotinized body it is clear that this was the seed. Spore size fits well the literature.

Re : Ciboria batschiana ?
When I found this species, the overmature apothecia certainly looked a lot darker and more purplish (I think I called it vinaceous).
