Diatrype on Acer
Enrique Rubio, 09-01-2012 18:04
Enrique RubioHi again:

Is it possible to have an opinion about this Diatrype growing on Acer sp. twigs?  Maybe D. spilomea or my spores are too bigger?
Thanks in advance
Enrique

Re : Diatrype on Acer
Hola Enrique,
the spores are a bit larger than reported by Rappaz but he made his measurements in lactic blue. In water the dimensions are always slightly higher, especially the width because spores swell rapidly in water. Just redo your measurements in lactic blue and I think you should come close to D. spilomea.
Cheers,
Jacques
