Purple terrestric Ascobolus
Zuzana Sochorová (Egertová), 27-07-2013 19:05
Zuzana Sochorová (Egertová)Hi,
this dark purple Ascobolus measured 3 mm in diameter, was sessile, circular from above, a little bit convex from side view.
Spores ellipsoid, hyaline, then purple, 20 - 23 x 10 - 13 µm. I cannot identify the ornamentation with something in Brummelen´s monograph. Maybe Ascobolus denudatus? If the photos don´t suffice, I will try to draw some pictures.
Slovakia, Štiavnické vrchy (Štiavnica Mountains), on soil, 11.9.2012
Best regards, Zuzana

Hi,

I think your collection has similarities with Ascobolus behnitziensis.

Look here: LINK

Hello Zuzana.

I think Bjorn is right, it is certainly Ascobolus behnitziensis. The ornamentation of spores immaturity, but this should be confirmed with time.

Regards.

Michel.

Re : Purple terrestric Ascobolus
Thank you very much, Björn and Michel.
I viewed this species at Björn´s page, but found the ornamentation too delicate... but it´s true that there were many hyaline spores in the preparate, only few purple.
Thanks for your help :-)
