Re:Thyronectria balsamea
Nectria balsamea belongs in Nectria s.s and appears to be closely related to N. cucurbitula, both on conifers with ascospores that produce ascoconidia in the asci. The difference is in the septation of the ascospores that become obscured with the ascoconidia.
If possible, I would like to recieve any fresh collections to grow and conduct molecular studies to confirm these hypotheses based on morphology.
Thank you.

Re:Thyronectria balsamea
Hello Amy,
I will ask the finder of the collection, and may be you are lucky. At least N. cucurbitula seems to be not rare at the moment here.
Here are some pictures and microscopic scetches, made by Ingo Wagner, the finder of the collections.

Dear Amy,
my friend, Ingo Wagner, just told me that he found both again (Nectria balsamea and cucurbitula) and shipped them yesterday. Hope they arrive in good enough condition for your purpose!
best regards,
Andreas
