Hello, bonjour. Here is the paper I'm searching for
I wonder whether anyone could help me with this +/- xerotolerant species I found on dead, still attached Salix branches on 1/1/15....
51.129347°N -0.15229797°W, 70 metres above sea level
Ascospores 6.8-8 x 2.6-2.9 µm
The Asci were without truncate apices, and each had a big crozier at the bottom so I started looking at the genus Hyalorbilia. I eventually found H.fusispora which seems to fit well, but I note there are probably similar species which I haven't considered.
Can anyone please confirm?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Amitiés,
Nick

yes, this is clearly H. fusispora. First record for GB. What you can do is to look for the margin (in top view, or in median section): H. fusspora has rather narrow marginal cells (3-5 µm) while subfusispora has wide cells. (5-10 µm).
Wer the branches corticated, and the apos growing on bark?
Did you give a herbarium number?
Zotto
Yes, the apothecia were on bark
The marginal cells are never wider than 5 µm so OK for H.fusispora....
The herbarium number is N.A 333
Thanks for the confirmation,
Nick
Update: I just noticed an error - The collection date is supposed to be 1/1/16

one of the good things about ASCOFrance is that you can edit any of your posts at any time ;-)
