Scutellinia on dung
Malcolm Greaves, 28-06-2016 01:06
Malcolm GreavesA group of Scutellinia were found on dung on an animal pathway through a marsh and they were alongside a large number of S olivascens.
Because the olivascens were in much better condition I concentrated on them but collected the ones on dung for later so took no photo.
They turned out to have short hairs The spores were (17.7) 18.2 (20.3)  x (11.4) 11.8 (12.07) with low but merging warts and on some spores a simple reticulum.
This seemed to fit with S torrensis which I have found once before but this time there was no reaction to heating in cotton blue so probably not that species. Can anyone give me guidance?
Thanks
Mal

Re : Scutellinia on dung
Hello Malcolm

I have encountered this kind of problem, where the envelope does not take off, or wrong way whereas normally it should, making it difficult problem determination and often hésiter.Les spores of fungus tone they are well ripe? You could be waiting a few days and then start the preparation.

Michel.

Re : Scutellinia on dung
Thanks Michel.
The spores were ejected onto a cover slip over night so should have been mature but I will try again in a day or two.
