Ascomycete on Pteridium

Dear collegues

I have recently found this fungus on the upper side of leaf of Pteridium. I am not sure if it is really Microscypha grisella. The outer part of the excipulum is hairy with some more or less irregularly arranged parts. The colour of the about 0.4-0.5 mm tall fruitbody is graybrown and the border whitish. The asci show a blue spot with J and are abot 28-32 um. The spore are hyaline and 7-8 um long. Mycosphaerella is described on occurring on the under side of leaves.

Many thanks for help

Jakob

Lieber Jakob

if the hairs are smooth I think it is M. grisella, yes, based on my memory.
