Anamorph on a rotten chestnut
François Bartholomeeusen, 28-09-2016 18:24
On a rotten chestnut I found these anamorphs. They grow separately. Here are some measurements:
Stipe: 463 µm long, width: 134 µm at the top and 145 µm at the base, at the foot 344 µm.
Head: height is 186 µm and width 319 µm
Conidia: 17,78-25.97 x 8.14-8.89 µm

Anamorphs are unknown to me but this find made me recall the item "Anamorph fungus on soil" by Thorben Hülsewig dated 16 september 2016.

Does anyone have a idea or interest?

Best regards,

François Bartholomeeusen

Re : Anamorph on a rotten chestnut
This superficially resembles the synnemata in Thorben's post, however in your second picture it looks like the spores are produced from basidia similar to those in the Atractiellales.  Compare your species with Atractiella, e.g.:

Oberwinkler F, Bandoni RJ. 1982. A taxonomic survey of thegasteroid, auricularioid Heterobasidiomycetes. Can J Bot 60:1726–1750.

I can send you the article if you cannot access it.  I am not sure how common these things are, but I would like to find a basidiomycete synnematous fungus like this, it's very interesting!

Re : Anamorph on a rotten chestnut
Dear Joey,

Thanks for your reply, I don't know much about anamorphs but one week after the find of the frb's, they are still in good condition. In a few days I probably throw them away.
I tried to access the article but failed. I will be grateful if you send it to me.

Best regards,

François
