Hamatocanthoscypha straminella on Alnus incana in Sweden
Johan Myhrer, 27-09-2018 21:06
Found these beautiful discs on decorticated wood of Alnus incana today; wet and strongly decomposed wood with some moss on the ground. Central Sweden 27 september 2018. Hamatocanthoscypha straminella (sulphureocitrina=uncipila) is my conclusion. H. uncipila is known on spruce (cones and wood) in Sweden before.  Asci IKI-, spores ~5,5-6x2-2,5µm. Just wanted to share :-)

Indeed it is this H. sulphureocitrina = H. straminella which is not a synonym of H. uncipila on conifer cones (contrary to Huhtinen's 2000 statement), a species with amyloid asci.

I have placed the Huhtinen 2001 on straminella reference in my online folder.
