Hypoderma ?
Ethan Crenson, 03-10-2019 07:25
I found these growing on wood in Vermont in the Northeastern US. Apothecia are tiny .5-2mm, with a mouth-like look when dry, opening by a slit when hydrated. They reminded me of other things in the Rhytismatales... maybe they are Hypoderma?
Asci measure about 104 x 7.5µm, IKI-. Spores (there were not many free ones) around 18-19 x 3-5µm, fusiform and 1-septate. Paraphyses are vermiform and curved at the ends.
Does this look familiar to anyone?
Thanks
Ethan

Re : Hypoderma ?
Hola Ethan, tus hongos parecen corresponder a una Hysteriaceae, dentro de estas con estas esporas quizás Psiloglonium sp.
Saludos cordiales

Hi Ethan, I think that you are right about Rhytismatales. I think that is Angelina rufescens. Do you have our paper on it in Mycologia? I'll send you a copy. Thanks to Adrian Carter for pointing out your excellent posting to me. Good photos of apothecia and sections, etc. Kind regards - Jason
