I would be glad to know the collection data of this find.

Thank you for all this information!
I will ask Laurens for the collection data!

The substrate is unclear? Did you try to identify from the wood anaotmy or else? And I suppose the branch was exposed, not on the ground, as you say "young fallen tree".

I will try to make a cross-cut.

Fraxinus may have 3-rowed radial rays and the pores of the summertime look singly, unlike Quercus. But the bark looks like Quercus to me but could be Fraxinus as well.

1. Got a message from Laurens: both present, Quercus and Fraxinus. I didn't get new material of this wood.
2. On 25-11-2019 Laurens visited the same place. He also found Isaria friesii on a thick (30 cm) branch lying on the ground under Salix. He is sure this branch is also Salix.
3. Also got a "new" piece of unknown wood (collected by Laurens van der Linde, 25-11-2019, same place), see pictures:

the silver bark two posts above me looks like Populus tremula.

(Laurens also thinks it is a poplar.)Â
Thank you very much Viktorie!
