Hello, found 2019-09-15 on old hardwood trunk. Unfortunately I only found a few spores, average size 5,8 x 3,01. Unfortunately I don't have a key, but I came across Orbilia eucalypti through research. Could it be this Orbilia? Greetings Petra

ja, das sollte sie sein. Da keine vitalen Elemente zu sehen sind, ist das etwas schwierig zu sagen, aber wenn der Fund aus Mitteleuropa stammt, dann ist der Fall klar.

Perhaps this is a mixed collection?

Thanks Nick, you are right! I don't think a mixed collection but now believe that the ellipsoid spores are aliens, perhaps algae.
A preparation in water would be helpful!
Petra, was this a moist substrate on the ground? And only a few scattered apos?

Zotto, it was not a wet spot, it was in a mixed deciduous forest on a trunk lying on the ground and there were only these 3 Apos on it. But the trunk was very wet because of the rain. If it is necessary I can try to make a preparation in water tomorrow.

Ja doch, es könnte ganz einfach O. xanthostigma sein, was ich aber makroskopisch nicht gedacht hätte. Dann müssten die Sporen warzig sein.

die wenigen Sporen die ich fand (s. letztes Bild) waren definitiv nicht warzig. Braucht es noch ein Präparat in Wasser? Ich müsste dann das Eksikkat verwenden. Kann man das in Wasser besser erkennen?

Wichtig sind vor allem vitale Elemente, besonders die Sporen, wegen der für Orbilia charakteristischen Sporenkörper (SBs) im Plasma. Die Warzigkeit würde man auch in KOH sehen. Also unbedingt erst in Wasser schauen. Freie Sporen könnten rar sein, aber man kann die Warzen und die SBs auch im Ascus sehen.
Einfach einen Tropfen Wasser aufs Apo, dann einen Schnitt machen oder sonstwie was abpräparieren, und in Wasser mit wenig Druck aufs Deckglas.

Hier das Präparat in Wasser. Ich hoffe man kann die bestimmungsrelevanten Merkmale erkennen. Zwei Sporen habe ich auch noch gefunden (siehe Bild 2) Für mich ist es schwierig in Wasser Einzelheiten zu erkennen, dafür fehlen mir leider Kenntnis und Erfahrung.

Also die Fotos sind schon gut. Die freien Sporen sind doch sicher im gleichen Maßstab fotografiert? Das sind dann wieder Algen, die wären doch zu groß für die Asci.
Könntest du mir die Fotos per Mail schicken? Sie sind vermutlch im Original größer?
Man sieht den Sporenkörper (dunkler großer Punkt in einigen Sporen (immer an einem ihrer Enden).

Very good! Now it is clear that this is O. xanthostigma. The attached photo shows even the warts on the spores.
