Hello forum,on 19-12-2019 I found on an old dune at the Belgian coast this tiny rosy species growing between Tortula ruralis.
I thought it might be a Roseodiscus but the parafyses aren't bent and branched at the end.
Apothecia: up to 4mm Ø and smooth
Stalk: up to 15mm long and darkening towards the base (older species)
Asci: J+ (Melzer) with croziers
Spores: Av (19.23-) 16.30 (-14.84) x (10.19-) 8.42 (-7.43); N= 40. Measurements in water. Ellipsoid to fusoid; smooth; hyalien. Mature spores are one-septated
Paraphyses: straight, slender and apically lightly swollen. Septated. Only a few were branched at the base.
Has someone any idea about this species?
Regards,
William
This species has been reported on the Belgian coast only a seven times during the past 10 years.
It has surely been overlooked all the time.
Regards,
William
