Small Asco on wood?
Mirek Gryc, 22-02-2020 07:20
Hi.
It is a popular species but I have not been able to identify it so far :( I hope it won't be a problem for you :)
Pictures do not show real colors. In fact, the outer surface (hair) more yellowish.
Dark-olive hymenium.
Small and fragile sporocarps so it's hard to get a nice preparation.

I met them on Salix sp., Populus sp. And others. Mostly wood without bark.

Regards
Mirek

Re : Small Asco on wood?

Bonjour Myrek,

Several features of your collection could lead to a Lasobelonium but the lack of iodine reaction and the spores are puzzling.

I can see something not too far in Zotto's files named L. ''encoelia'' .

Only a suggestion, not sure at all.

Amitiés. Michel

Re : Small Asco on wood?
Hi Michel

Hmm! - a very, very reasonable proposition :)
I thought this thing was better known. This winter, I have met this species four times. In two cases, the fruitbodies were in very poor condition, so I didn't even microscope them. Yesterday's collection looked nice so I tried to microscope it. They were slightly dried up but after moisturizing they developed well.

Something seems to me that I still have a lot of work ahead of them, all the more so because not all the features match those given in the descriptions? First of all, the size of the fruiting bodies. In my case, the most ripe fruitbodies had a diameter well below 1 mm.
Also slightly different in color?
Now I can't but in the evening I will check the reaction on KOH and the "porus reaction" on Lugol after using KOH.

Regards
Mirek

Re : Small Asco on wood?
How about "Trichopeziza" viridula. Consult Zottos folder "viridula Europa". I saw it on Fagus recently.

Re : Small Asco on wood?
Hi Adam
You ask: what do I think about T. viridula?
I am very happy with this option :)
This will be the genre!

However, I do not know where Zotto hid this folder ??
Thank you and best regards
Mirek

Re : Small Asco on wood?

It isn`t a true Trichopeziza. Chlorosplenium viridulum seems to be the same. It belongs somewhere else entirely.
