pulvinate hyphomycete on Taxus
Ibai Olariaga Ibarguren, 24-04-2020 16:35
Hi all,

I collected a curious anamorphic fungi on bark of a dead Taxus that it looks very characteristic. It forms olivaceous brown cushions of 3-4 mm. Conidia attach through a hyaline appendix to phialides. Both conidia and phyalides are spinulose.

I do not have good literature good at hand right now.

Can anyone provide a clue?

Many thanks in advance.

Best,

Ibai.

Lo mas parecido que encuentro es

Geniculosporium serpens Chesters & Greenh., Trans. Br. mycol. Soc. 47(3): 400 (1964)

Then, just look among Conoplea?

Re : pulvinate hyphomycete on Taxus
Dear Luc,

excellent, very much appreciated!

I have been looking the scans you sent, and also an earlier paper by Hugues (Canadian J. Bot, 1960), and I think it fits C. juniperi pretty well. Although it seems to be only known from N. America, Taxus and Juniperus are shared hosts for a number of species. It sounds a feasible option.

What it surprises me most it that Conoplea seems to be placed in the Sarcosomataceae (Pezizales).

Many thanks!

Ibai.
