Lachnum virgineum?
Juuso Äikäs, 27-05-2020 20:57
As I understand L. virgineum is the most common Lachnum and grows on a wide variety of substrates. Nevertheless, I don't have a conformed collection of it so far. Could this fit?

The substrate in this one is a Picea abies cone that was laying in a swampy depression.

The spores are a bit wider than than in most of the descriptions I found with a brief search. Asci with croziers.

Spore measurements:

(8.5) 8.8 - 10.8 (11.1) × (2.3) 2.34 - 2.6 µm
Q = (3.4) 3.5 - 4.5 ; N = 10
Me = 9.9 × 2.5 µm ; Qe = 4

Re : Lachnum virgineum?
Yes, in my opinion this is L. virgineum. The droplets in the hairs are typical, they are not VB-guttules I think as the cells below are rather empty, whereas VBs occur especially in the lower half of the hairs and are responsible for reddening.

Re : Lachnum virgineum?
Thanks once again. Yeah, I think the droplets were on the surface. I attached another hair pic here.

That are warts. But internally are drops, and here I see they reach also down to the base. I am not sure, maybe they are vacuolar too.
