Hola a todos.Subo unas fotos de un Ascobolus que hemos encontrado sobre el suelo junto a apotecios de Lamprospora dictydiola.
Miden unas 800 micras.
Esporas de 19-24 x 12,5-15,5 micras.
Pensé en A. behnitziensis, pero la recolecta de hoy tiene paráfisis amarillas y creo que A. behnitziensis está descrita con paráfisis hialinas???
Qué les parece?

This is not A. behnitziensis. The spore ornamentation reminds A. terrestris, but the latter has smaller ascospores and paraphyses with yellow content.
No idea of what it could be.

if I remember it well there were people talking about a species called A. geophilus in our local bars when I was young.
Nobody knew what to think about it, nor did I.

Buenos días a todos.
De acuerdo con Marcel, de hecho, geophilus se ve bastante bien en lo que respecta a las esporas, pero no parece haber pigmentos intracelulares. Además, las paráfisis de geophilus son hialiles, lo que no es el caso aquí. Seguimos en duda!

Marcel's idea is a good idea. A. geophilus is a mystery for me, because Brummelen's description (p. 141) is very close to those of A. behnitziensis, and only his drawings seem to be slightly different...
Brummelen's description of paraphyses indicates "hyaline [...] embedded in yellowish mucus". In my opinion, he only studied this species from herbarium materials, so it is not impossible that in fresh conditions, the paraphyses could content a yellow pigment. Seaver indicates "embedded in golden-yellow mucilaginous substance".

Sí, acabo de leer el trabajo de A. terrestris y creo que esta recolecta podría encajar con A. geophilus.
Como dice Nico, casi seguro que el contenido amarillento del interior de las paráfisis se pierde cuando los apos se secan. Esta noche tomaré muestra de uno de los apos a ver si las paráfisis mantienen el color amarillo o bien lo han perdido y nos parecen hialinas.

Creo recordar, aparte de verrugas mas finas, otra característica notable de Geophylus es que desarrolla la ornamentación mucho antes que A. Behnitziensis, cuando las esporas son un muy inmaduras , creo tener algo de esto en mis archivos, miraré después con más tiempo.

A collection which I determined as A. geophilus had transparent paraphyses but abundant yellow brown external deposits. This is my interpretation of A. geophilus.
