Morchella galilaea - more infor on distribution and ecology
Stephen Martin Mifsud, 09-11-2024 16:41
Stephen Martin MifsudHello everyone, we have recently published a paper on Morchella galilaea titled: Morchella galilaea – Expanded phylogeography and relaxed seasonality of a globally distributed autumnal morel which provides some clues on its enigmatic biogeography and further info on its ecology of a recently described morel species. There is a trend that the species lives close to shores under Olea (or Oleaceae) or Pinus. It was reported in several place out of Europe too.

We are still interested to have more info about this species, so if by chance you meet a morrel in Autumn (very likely to be M. galilaea) and overall match the species description, we would appreciate if you can share the data either here or by email to me or any of the paper coauthors. Just basic info like date, host association, location and anything else one wish to add.

In the meantime hope the paper is of interest to some of you
