Long-necked anamorph growing on Camillea punctulata
Ethan Crenson, 02-12-2024 05:45
Hello all,

Yesterday in a wooded park in the Bronx, NYC I found a long-necked anamorph growing directly on the surface of Camillea punctulata. The pycnidia are brown, rough-textured. They have long necks which are at times nearly twice as tall as the pycnidia. The necks are black and taper to the tip.

There were not many conidia, so perhaps these were not mature.  What few conidia I could find were tiny, hyaline and ellipsoid, possibly with an oil droplet at each end.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get a good in situ photo (it was cold in the woods).

Does anyone know what this could be?

Ethan
