Merci
pablo

Re:Sur feuille de Smilax aspera
Hi pablo

this is a Hysterostegiella, and not clearly distinct from H. dumeti or H. lauri as i feel. I did not check the literature but compare only my and Michel's documentations. H. dumeti produceds characteristic exudates like a chain in Michel's fungus on Rubus stem, not seen in that on Laurus leaves. It would be good if you measure the spores exactöly, length and width. I feel that spore width is imporrant in that genus.

A very interesting collection!

Re:Sur feuille de Smilax aspera
Dear Zotto ¡¡,

Thank you very much, it did not know this genre.

For what I could have investigated in this small lapse of time, this genre is very demanding with the substratum, and I do not find anything of documentation on Smilax aspera.
I would like to know the characteristics of the genre and the substrata that they parasitize,

You have a key, or documentation on the genre.

Thank you Zotto.

Re:Sur feuille de Smilax aspera
Hi Pablo

I have little experience in that genus, but I feel that the species are either not always substrate-specific, or hardly to distinguish by morphology. I have no entry at all in my literature database for fungi on Smilax leaves. The only treatises on Hysterostegiella worth to mention are those of Defago (1968) and Hein (1983). The Hein paper I have as scan and sent it to you just now.

Re:Sur feuille de Smilax aspera
Hi zotto and Michel,

Today I found again the ascus of smilax, I measured the spores and measure 5-6 um.
My problem is that I know nothing of German and the work they sent me Zotto, I understand nothing.

would be very grateful, if you help me to take steps to phase out species that are not.

Thank you very much
Pablo

Re:Sur feuille de Smilax aspera
I try:

With the generic key you arrive at Hysterostegiella through: apothecia opening with a covering lid attached at one side when opened, AND paraphyses lanceolate. But I admit one should look for the marginal excipular cells to exclude "Mollisiopsis, Cenangiopsis etc.". The latter is a rather big encoelioid fungus, quite unlike your fungus.

In the species key it becomes difficult.. 5-6 µm is not much more than 4-5 µm. Some species have elongate apothecia, 2x as long as wide (valvata, typhae). Then the question is whether there are exudates on the marginal hairs forming chain-like "filaments". I think you should investigate the margin, either in a squash mount or better by a section. Are there any hairs at all in your fungus?
