Is there any difference betwen H. lacunosa f. alba Dähncke (2007) and Helvella lacunosa var. cinerea (Afzel.: Fr.) Bres (= Helvella sulcata var. cinerea Bres.)?
I have this record, from Tenerife, and I do not know how to call it.

Ciao Miguel
wonderful collection that shows from zero to small concentrations of pigment

Re:Helvella lacunosa f. alba vs H. lacunosa var. cinerea
Good night
Carlo, please, what picture do you see with croziers? I can not see it.
Nicolas, the only difference is stipe pure white in H. lacunosa f. alba and not pure white in H. lacunosa var. cinerea? So do you think this record is H. lacunosa var. cinerea or simply H. lacunosa?
Thanks

Re:Helvella lacunosa f. alba vs H. lacunosa var. cinerea
Miguel Angel,
Helvella lacunosa is very variable in shape, size and colours. In your collection I simply see Helvella lacunosa, there are grey shades on the hymenium.
About the opportunity to keep separate taxa for white forms, see here:
http://www.actafungorum.org/actaforum/viewtopic.php?f=237&t=913
there is a collection with white and black ascomata mixed, and also some specimen partly colored and partly white. What we have to do, Helvella lacunosa var. zebrae? hehehe
The crozier at base of asci in Helvella is less easy to see than in some other genera, but in your pictures the base is enlarged and slightly divided. That's enough to call them "pleurorhynques" (=whith croziers).
Ciao
Mario

Thank you Nicolas, Mario and Carlo.... so H. lacunosa "albina" jejeje
I have learn a little more about croziers, I though about a "clamp" asci base. Very clear now.

Re:Helvella lacunosa f. alba vs H. lacunosa var. cinerea
If you are able to observe the asci still connected to the ascogenous hypha, you'll see exactly like a clamp. But not in all asci, only in a proportion. The shape of the ascus base reveal that there was a clamp.
