Dear all.Here is a small asco found on decorticated wood sp. in hight altitude (2000m), Pyrenopeziza-like specie I think.
Apo. from 400 to 600 um diameter, grey with a white margin, opening at first in slit.
Presence of brown septate hairs (wide of 2-3um) on the base.
Asci unitunicate, spores biseriate, 175-180x10-12 um, IKI- even with pre-treatment in KOH, with croziers.
Spores 13,3-14,5x3,7-4,4 um and often 1-septate.
Sous-hymenium textura intrica
Excipulum textura globulosa/subglobulosa, brown on excipulum-ectal and gradually brown to hyalin inward.
Have you got an idea ?

Clearly a Pyrenopeziza. There exist some on woody substrate (incl. bark), also with inamyloid asci, but they are partly indeterminable. Important is to know whether the spore septa occur inside living asci. Perhaps you have still some living ones and can check them and make a photo? How large are the asci? I cannot believe that they are much over 100 µm ?!

First, the wood has been identified : Sambucus.
Second, I remember that only a few spores were septate in asci. I'll try this evening to make picture of that. Asci are 175-180x10-12 um I'll make a picture of that too.

Here is a picture of an ascus from rehydrated material. Spores are usually non-septate inside but sometimes they are 1-septate.
Asci are 60-70x6-10um ! You are right ! I haven't read the good line on my paper... Sorry.

With Bernard's key there is only one lignicolous species (I wonder about that), Py. salicis (Feltg.) Nannf., on Salix and Sambucus, wit spores 12-15 x 2.5 µm. In Nannfeldt 1932 there is no mention of the iodine reaction, also not in Bernard's key. Maybe Höhnel says something about that.
