Hi again, there are a few hypoxylon-like specimen I have found the last days, one of them is this small Hypoxylon on a Fraxinus twig. It has interesting microscopical features. Perhaps someone can give me some tips with the two species H. fraxinophilum and H. intermedium.
Ostioles have small but nearly invisible "discs" (visible only under x40). I did not find any comparable species (there are no photos with the hyaline sheaths).
regards,
björn

Re : Hypoxylon fraxinophilum/intermedium?
Hi Björn,
yes, I'm quite sure that your determination is correct. It is a very common species in riparian forests to my experience. As far as I know, H. fraxinophilum is a synonym of H. intermedium.
Best wishes,
Gernot

Re : Hypoxylon fraxinophilum/intermedium?
Hi Gernot,
yes, I thought the same about it, but I was not sure after looking for it in indexfungorum.org (H. fraxinophilum is a correct name there). I have never seen H. intermedium before.
Danke für die Hilfe Gernot und Gruß nach Österreich :)
