Riet van OostenHello, Found by Laurens van der Linde on Rubus fr
Patrice
in my opinion, your collection is Plectania mediterranea!
Plectania mexicana is quite different, and Plectania megalocrater, according to our article on AMER bulletin, is different as well. According to our collection and the protologue, it's black also in the hymenium!
Just few question:
- Where did you collect it? I mean, the locality and the altitude.
- Did you measure the spores from a sporeprint?
- Were there only Acer?
When we described P. mediterranea we measure the spores from very abundant sporeprints. If you see Micol. Natura Mediterranea 20(2): 155-158, 2005, Cittadini & Lunghini (who misinterpreted it as Sarcosoma globosum) reported spores 22-22.5-28.5 × 11-15-16 µm, but they are definitely not mature.
Plectania species take a very long time to reach the final maturation of the spores! :D
Anyway, if you want you can send me a small part of this collection, so I can sequence the DNA and compare it with our type collection! ;)
It could be great if you write a paper on this record! As far as we know, outside Italy, P. mediterranea was found only in Corsica.
Sorry if I don't write in French! I understand it quite well but I'm not able to write it!!!
All the best
Matte

Cher Patrice,
Patrice
Harvest in Saintes (Charente-Maritime), area Lormont, about 20 meters altitude.
All spores were from sporeprints, I waited a little to get a few apothecia with spores, but others were already very mature.
At 10 meters, there are also Quercus (not Quercus ilex).
No problem to send several halves of apothecia (also Nicolas). I need the adress.
No problem for your answer in English.
Thank you very much for that answer very quick and very detailed.
Sorry for my english ...
Patrice
Hi!
So, not on the mediterranean side!!! That's a good new!!
Few minutes ago, I realized that your PDF had a second page in which I can see also the hairs! ;)
My address is:
Matteo Carbone
Via Don Luigi Sturzo 173

Italie
We are at the end of a big phylogenetic study and your collections will be very useful to us!!!
And, at the same time, we can confirm you the conspecificity with our species! So you (and perhaps Nico) could write something about it! ;)
Thanks a lot in advance!
All the best
Matte

Salut!
Mon adresse est:
Matteo Carbone
Via Don Luigi Sturzo 173

Merci beaucoup
Matte
Hi to everybody,
Patrice no doubt: this is Plectania mediterranea...with a very intersting habitat !
I need to register this locality..Is it near the Golf club...or at north in "Bois de Brandes" ?
Ten meters is not far away by Quercus...If you have time observe wheter there are tree stumps (cut, broken, ruined)
Here my last collection, 27/04/2012
Patrice
1/ Thank you Carlo for your photo and your informations. I answer your questions :
On the map, it is between RD 114 and the golf.
Where grow Plectania there are no stumps or dead wood, twigs buried except as may be found in forests.
2/ I reply to Matteo: indeed there were important informations on the second page of the PDF. It is important to await the your DNA analysis to write an article on this Plectania. The lover that I am publish his mushrooms on the site "Mycocharentes" and when they have an additional interest, as is the case here, in the newsletter SMMA (Société mycologique du Massif d'Argenson). I do not think Nicolas wants to write anything, but I advance perhaps, he is not at all in my geographic area and I do not see the point of publish the same crop in different newsletters. I hope not too wrong by writing these few lines ...
Best wishes to all and thank you.
Patrice

Carlo and I revised the collection you sent us! Morphologically it fits P. mediterranea quite well.
Yesterday molecular results confirmed that it's P. mediterranea!
Probably we failed to select the name because from now on it's also "atlantica"!!!!!!! :D

Cher Patrice,
