Hello, I'd like to ask about this older specimen:

« < 1 2 3 4 5 > »
Octospora
Salvador Tello, 24-11-2012 14:50
Mide unos 2mm y estaba en restos de una antigua hoguera.
Ascas no amiloides y esporas con estas medidas.
21,7 [23,6 ; 24,7] 26,6 x 11,1 [11,6 ; 11,9] 12,4 µm
Q = 1,9 [2 ; 2,1] 2,2 ; N = 21 ; C = 95%
Me = 24,1 x 11,8 µm ; Qe = 2,1
Gracias.

Saludos.
Salvador.

Re : Octospora
Hi Slavador,
in my opion your finding looks quite similar to the species of the Leucoscypha-semiimmersa-patavina-complex. Do you find some thickwalled hairs on the outside of the apothezium?
Best, Uwe

Re : Octospora
This should be Sepultariella semi-immersa.

Re : Octospora
Hi Björn,
Sepultariella semi-immersa is according to Index Fungorum an invalid name, although it is the current name of the taxon. Very strange. Maybe somebody can explain this strange case?
Best, Uwe

Re : Octospora
this combination has not been validly published http://www.indexfungorum.org/names/NamesRecord.asp?RecordID=466141?
so I call it Leucoscypha semi-immersa
Salvador Tello, 24-11-2012 21:01
Re : Octospora
No he visto pelos en el esterior del apotecio, (probaré otra vez).
Pero ¿no son demasiado grandes las esporas para ser  Leucoscypha semi-immersa?

Saludos.
Salvador.

Re : Octospora
hi together,

i agree with francois!
to me it seems completely absurd to split l. semi-immersa and l. patavina in differnet genera, because they are so close ...
so it stays a leucoscypha for me.

best

Re : Octospora
According to René Dougoud the sporesize of L. patavina is 20,6-25,6 x 10-11,5 µm and of semi-immersa (18,5-)20,5-22,5(-23,5) x (9,6-)10,5-11,2 µm. It overlaps such a lot that I can't see in sporesize the main feature to split the taxa. It may be two different taxa, but I find it hard to distinguish between them.
Best, Uwe

Re : Octospora
Uwe I disagree. I collected both and color of apothecia are really different: bright orange for patavina, yellow ochraceous for semiimmersa

Re : Octospora
Hi François,
thank you very much for your comment!
Here I have a Leucoscypha-"patavina"-Collection which is (in my opion) not bright orange.
Sporesize: 25-26,5 x 11-12 µm.
And here is another collection, one of Leucoscypha-"semi-immersa", with orange colors.
Sporesize: 21-22 x 9-11 µm.
What do you think about it?
Best, Uwe

Re : Octospora
La he estado mirando otra vez y parece que si va a ser L. patavina.
Gracias.
