Asci: 239.32x23.59 um

Spores: 22.63-24.29x15.49-16.87 um; uniseriate; pedicel 8.91-10.5x1.96-2.06 um; upper cauda not covering germ pore. Upper cauda is only visible when spores are young and still in the ascus.


Hair: Agglutinated 54.07 um long with 4 cells.

I think you are right Jacky because of the shape of the hairs and the size of the spores especially the width. The spores also do have an lower cauda, caudas are not mentioned in Doveri.

Hi Joop and Jacky,

for Schizothecium squamulosum the pedicel is too short and the spores are too small.
So Nils Lundqvist wrote me by letter some years ago:
Spores 23-27,5 x 15-20, Pedicel 12-19 x 1,5-2
Own measurements 23-28 x 15-18,5, Pedicel 15-24 x 1,5 - 3.

The agglutinated hairs are also from another type - more rotund than pointed!

So that's why I'm sure that you ask for Schizothecium miniglutinans!

Size of the spores and of the pedicel and the pointed hair goes conform very well with this species!
