Small disco on Quercus
Masanori Kutsuna, 07-11-2013 03:15
Hello everybody,

I found a small disco on fallen leaves of Quercus acutissima in Japan.

Apothecia up to 1 mm. diam., sessile or nearly so, whitish to pale greyish.
Asci 50-66 x 6.3-6.8 microm., IKI+.
Paraphyses with refractive contents.
Ascospores broadly elliptical, 5.7-6.3 microns long, with 2 large oil drops.
Outer tissue somewhat rounded cells with brown walls.

Mollisia?

Re : Small disco on Quercus
For a Mollisia the broad spores would be very strange! They look like in a Trochila, but I cannot imagine such relationship.

perhaps a photo of the ascus apex in IKI could help in clarifying the genus?

You don't have the possibility for colour microphotos?

Re : Small disco on Quercus
Thank you, Zotto.

I reduced the image to make it  smaller size,
but I have no color microphoto of the ascus in IKI.
I will try to get fresh material.
