Re : asco Mayotte
No, at least I never have found R. spermoides in tropical areas.  Where did you collect this material?

This may be Bertia tropicalis, but I do not see any ascomata that are collapsing (collabent).  See:

Molecular systematics of the Coronophorales and new species of Bertia, Lasiobertia and Nitschkia Sabine M. HUHNDORF, Andrew N. MILLER* and Fernando A. FERNA´NDEZ

Re : asco Mayotte
This specie has been collected in Mayotte island ( Comoros archipel  near Madagascar ), on a trail  in the rainy forest saturday 18 01 2014 during WET season (now). Mamoudzou convalescence trail after the governor house    S 12° 46' 07.4''   E 45° 12' 02.4''  altitude 300 meters

See the foreground left, i think that you can see any ascomata that are collapsing, you are right with Bertia tropicalis.
 What do you think ???

Re : asco Mayotte
Yes, I believe it is this species.  If you would like to send it to me for sequencing, I can confirm this.  It is a very common tropical species, but Madagascar would certainly extend its range.

Re : asco Mayotte
Sorry for the slow reply.  We sequenced this specimen twice to get good ITS and LSU sequences.  While it is close to the Bertia species in the Bertia clade in the attached paper, it is not B. tropicalis and does not seem to match any of the described Bertia species.  We should describe it as a new species.

Best,
Andy

Re : asco Mayotte
Dear Maurice,

It is your species so you can name it whatever you like.  Bertia mayottensis is available.  Do you have a photo of the habitat on Mayotte island where you collected this species?  We could publish it in the next issue of Fungal Planet if you have a photo of the habitat.

Happy Holidays,
Andy
