salut a tous,in our garden we have an old abies-tree, which is always good for a surprise. on a small fallen twig i found very little, isolated perithecia, smooth, no hairs (0,2mm), half immersed. the spores are attractive and very specific: 4 septa, 2 big oildrops, more hyaline outer cells and a kind of most hyalin, pointed appendix, 22-26 x 8-10. it looks as if chaetosphaerella and anthostomella have mingled together. unfortunately i could not get a clear image of the biseriate asci, but they exist. at least i have no idea about the genus! do you have one?

Hi Dirk,
it should be Rebentischia unicaudata, which is common on various plant debris, especially Clematis and deciduous wood. I have never senn it on coniferous wood.

R. unicaudata has a much longer and narrower, tail-like basal cell though. It should be Rebentischia abietis. You can find a description and photos in:

Of course, you are right Gernot, I did not see whether there are appendages or not, because the quality of the photos made me being unsure about this. I have heard about this species, but I did never see it before (even not here in ascofrance). Probably it is not so rare as believed, we just do not recognize it.

hi björn, i think the appendix is good to see. its 4-6 my long. compared with unicaudata very much shorter. often the appendix is lacking (because of pressure during preparation i think) and then its 4-celled.

Hello in the round,
last weekend we found R. unicaudata on indet. decid. tree. Spores 20-22 x 7-8 µm without caudae, all spores with the conspicuous appendices.
