Ethan CrensonHi all, A few weeks back a friend pointed out som
Pseudothecia are immersed. Asci are cylindrical, short-stalked, ca 90-100 x 9-11 µm. Spores are brown, fusiform, 3-septate, 19-24 x 6-7 µm.
The spores resemble Leptosphaeria doliolum, but the pseudothecia are completely immersed in the substrate rather than becoming superficial. It doesn't seem to match the description of any other Leptosphaeria with 3-septate spores in the literature I have available.
Index Fungorum lists L. euphorbiae, recorded from Euphorbia and with brown 3-septate spores, but I don't have a full description of this species.
I'd welcome any suggestions.
Many thanks
Marcus
you can get to a description from Index Fungorum:
http://www.librifungorum.org/Image.asp?Nav=yes&FirstPage=1162&LastPage=2122&NextPage=1186 (bottom line on to next page).
I have had problems with L. doliolum-like collections - e.g.http://www.ascofrance.com/search_forum/27681
best wishes
Chris
Thanks Chris. I had seen the short Latin description accessible from Index Fungorum. If only there was a long, detailed description somewhere, preferably with lots of illustrations!
Marcus
