Hymenoscyphus 270914 2002

Miguel Ãngel RibesAnd the last Hymenoscyphus ... today

This nice yellow Hymenoscyphus, 2-3 mm, clearly stalked, was growing on a small branch of Fagus sylvaticus too, 27-IX-2014. I have no idea about it.

Asci 8-spores, euamyloid, Hymenoscyphus type, not sure about croziers, (110.1) 110.3 - 126.7 (140.4) x (7.2) 8.2 - 10.3 (10.4) µm; Me = 120.4 x 9.1 µm.
Spores elipsoidal-elongated with many medium-size guttules around the nucleus, (11.1) 12.6 - 16.2 (17.5) x (4.3) 4.8 - 5.6 (6.6) µm; Q = (2.0) 2.4 - 3.0 (3.3) ; N = 86; Me = 13.9 x 5.2 µm ; Qe = 2.7.
Paraphysis cylindrical, not enlaeged at apex, plenty of small VBs.
Ectal excipulum with textura prismatica, with external layer brown.
Subhymenium very dark-brown to black, ¿with crystals?
Medullar excipulum with textura intricata.
Margin with small, hialine and thin "hairs".

Thank you with your help.

Miguel Á. Ribes.

Clearly without croziers. Presently I have no idea!

Ups, another species without identification.

Do you think I must find in Hymenoscyphus or in other genus?

Thanks you.

Clearly Hymenoscyphus and not Phaeohelotium. But the spores are not scutuloid. H. peruni has smaller spores and croziers, and another idea I do not have.

Thanks.

Re : Hymenoscyphus 270914 2002
I have now found a similar collection, it is in my folder
calyculus-subferrug. H-

This is from the MERCK project during 2004, AH 7405, on ?Juglans, studied by Ricardo galán and later by me.

I am not sure whether it has been sequenced. Your sample is really interesting, and maybe a sequence would bring us forward.

Yes, really very similar.

Must I contact Ricardo for further information, do you want to do that, do you want I send you the sample ...?

Thank you.

Re : Hymenoscyphus 270914 2002
I am not sure if he remembers his collection. Even the colour of the apos is inknown to me.

But it could well be that he is interested in clarifying such things. Gonzalo Platas was the one who sequenced the cultures at that time, so this would also be a possibility to  come nearer. If there exists a sequence, then it would be especially nice to clarify yours also.

Ricardo's seems to be from Burgos, and yours from Guadarrama mts.?
