Does anyone know what this Asco might be? It was growing on sticks and old chunks of wood in a boggy area at 1100 m in the Oregon Cascades, USA.

Re : Possible Pezoloma
Yes, this is Pezoloma ciliifera. I am quite sure you have pretreated with KOH before applying iodine? Without KOH the species shoul react red instead of blue. Important would also be to see the spore content, best in vital state (or in KOH). There are similar species with abundant oil drops which P. ciliifera doe snot have.
The large apo might belong to Cudoniella tenuispora?7
Zotto

Re : Possible Pezoloma
Thank you very much. I did not do any detailed analysis of the large Apo - I assumed that it was Cudoniella clavus but did not check the micro details.

Re : Possible Pezoloma
Cudoniella clavus has a much more slender, cylindrical stalk.
Did you pretreat with KOH? because if not then it should be a different species.

Re : Possible Pezoloma
Thanks again on the Cudoniella - I took a colleague's word on the ID and did not examine the specimen. My focus was on the Pezoloma.
