Possibly an anamorph?
Carmel Sammut, 24-06-2015 20:08
Found under olive tree - on dead olive leaf (could be an Eucalyptus leaf mixed with the olive leaves).
Looks like an anamorph.
No asci or paraphyses seen.
'Spores' hyaline, 25-28 x 3.5-4µm

Any idea of Family/Genus?

Re : Possibly an anamorph?
Surely an asexual fungus. Would certainly be useful to se the conidiophores as well, I assume the brown strictures are hairs.

Re : Possibly an anamorph?
I did not seen any identifyable structures, no conidiophores unfortunately. It was dry so perhaps that is why I could not see anything.
The brown septate structures are hair like structures. The last image 2 images I'm not sure what they are.

Re : Possibly an anamorph?
These helicoid coils are thickenings in the tracheids of the plant.

I suppose this fungus is drought-tolerant, and when you keep it in a moist box by spraying a bit with water, it should grow and behave as if fresh. But perhaps it is overmature.

I will try to revive, see if I can find anything interesting & post.

Thanks

Re : Possibly an anamorph?
This looks like a Colletotrichum or similar coelomycetous fungus; a very difficult area with a huge number of names of uncertain validity. Culturing is generally recommended in this group; things may have improved, but I tend to ignore them when I find them.
Apologies for being so discouraging - others may know more than I do.

Cordialement
Chris

Re : Possibly an anamorph?
Thanks Chris - not discouraging simply realistic - better than spending a lot of time to end up with nothing. But I'll try to rehydrate when I find some free time & see what happens.
