Parasitic fungus on insect larva and mite
Thorben Hülsewig, 19-03-2016 23:53
Hello there,
today i found under a rotten wood this fungus.
This fungus grow on insect larva and on the larva are some mites, they have the infection too.
I know that a determination is difficult, but perhaps anyone know what that is.

best regards,
Thorben

Re : Parasitic fungus on insect larva and mite
Unfortumnately you did not show any conidiogenous cell and without that an identification is not possible. Globose conidia are not so frequent in these fungi and might stem from a Beauveria.

Re : Parasitic fungus on insect larva and mite
Hello Walter,
thats pity :(
I have find a other fungus near (2cm) that fungus.
The other fungus has the same Globose spore and some conidiogenus cells.
But i'm not sure if this is the same fungus.
Later i upload the photos.

Viele Grüße
Thorben

Re : Parasitic fungus on insect larva and mite
The second one is certainly not a Beauveria. It has verticillium-like conidiophores. I guess it is a species of Pochonia, but without a pure culture I cannot get firther.

Re : Parasitic fungus on insect larva and mite
I'm very happy :)
Today i found again the same insect larva (i mean its a caterpillar) on the same location.
But this one have two different types of spores.
Wether that now the same species as the first fungus are, that i don't know.

best regards,
Thorben

Darauf kann man wirklich etliche triviale Dinge finden. Lecanicillium, Beauveria etc.   Walter
Thorben Hülsewig, 22-03-2016 20:05
Re : Parasitic fungus on insect larva and mite

Thorben
