Rhytismatales? on Carex
Marja Pennanen, 21-07-2016 12:55
Hello forum,

once again I'm not finding even a genus for my collection.

These brown ones are up to 1,5 mm wide.
The spores are about 10-20x2-3 and asci about 40-50x5, faintly IKI blue and paraphyses are up to 3 wide.
Dark cells exist and there is some kind of brown material reminding hairs on the surface.
I saw one, supposingly  representative of this species, that was closed black ball. So I was trying to find a genus from Rhytismatales, but must have missed the genus or am seeking from a wrong place.

Better suggestions?

Marja

Dear Marja
I think you have Dennisiodiscus prasinus. Are the asci 4-spored?

Dear Zotto,

Thak you for your fast answer.

I could not count the spores inside the asci, but was wondering, where there 4 or 8 spores, because the spores are big compared to the asci size.

I may try to check another later. Now I got to post some other specimens to Seppo, while they are still fresh...

Dennisiodiscus would be a new genus for me :D

Checked another and the asci are 4-spored.

There seems to be another collection from Finland in Turku and if more have not been collected lately, this was the second finding of Dennisiodiscus prasinus here.

Once again, thank you Zotto.

Happy for this new genus for me: Marja
