Ascobolus
Malcolm Greaves, 08-12-2016 14:27
Malcolm GreavesThis Ascobolus was found on Grouse dung.
Less than 1mm across with no distinct margin.
Spores seemed to be of two types. The first with little colour but heavy reticulations and secondly dark purple and with more delicate lines. The latter at 14-16 x 8-8.5 fit well with Ascobolus carletonii at 16-16.5 x 10-10.5 the former are too big. I am hoping the larger spores are immature and develop into the right size when mature.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Mal

Re : Ascobolus
Hello Mal.

Nice find! In my opinion your mushroom is good for A.carletoni.
