Calycina on Betula wood

... also from the National Park of Eifel, Germany.

I am quite sure about the genus, but find no fitting species.

The apical apparatus reacts blue in IKI (Calycina type), croziers are present. Overripe spores are 1-septate and germinate to buds.

Best regards from Lothar

Re : Calycina on Betula wood
The spores remind of Leptodontidium trabinellum (earlier Phaeohelotium or Calycellina). But the apos are a bit too white. You could look whether the paraphyses are densely septate at the base.

... o.k. - in my mind trabinella also is something more yellowish or even nearly orange. But maybe in very young stage it is whtish???

Thanks for your opinion an best regards from Lothar

... ah - the paraphyses-septation. I could do this, but it has to wait. The specimen is dry now and a lot of other work to do.

Thanks for the tip! Lothar
