Unknown black setose discomycete on hardwood
Ethan Crenson, 13-12-2016 17:17
Found in Inwood Hill Park, Upper Manhattan, New York City on decorticated hardwood, possibly Quercus. Fruiting bodies are very tiny, .2 - .5 mm across. Black, setose. Spores are hyaline, ellipsoid-inequilateral with long, thin appendages at each end. Spores measure 5-7?m long (this measurement does not include the appendages) by 2-2.5?m wide. Appendages are about 2.5-4?m long. Hairs are brown, thick-walled and appear non-septate. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help?

At any case it is an anamorph - no asci! And the spores remind me at first glance of some anamorphs, for instance Pseudolachnea. But this is something different.

This seems to be Dinemasporium.
Please check the length/width ratio, but with the conidia width and appendage lenght you provided, this probable is D. decipiens.
