This group of Trichoglossum was on a grassy/mossy bank on moorland. The largest was 8cm tall and almost 1cm wide at the top. The spores were up to 7 septate (many with less than 7) and were 75µ long. The only species that is a close match is T confusum (North American Geoglossum Mains).Is there an alternative?

The only other possibility is Trichoglossum farlowii, but these species has mainly only 0-5-septate spores.
Added the distribution of the lengths of the spores of related species and the distribution of the numbers of septa (in percent) of the spores of the same related species in my collections (in Flanders).

Your data fits well with my find. With the majority of spores c75 and the longest found was 82. Most were 7 septate but there were a few with 6,5 or less septa.

I was just searching further to get the full details before contacting Kew re this find and I found that T confusum is described as being 1.5-2.5 tall whereas T walteri is between 3-10cm. As my specimen was in the region of 8cm tall it would seem to exclued T confusum.
