Re : On Quercus robur petioles
Hi Elsa,
in my opinion this fungus belongs to the Rhytismataceae, genus Hypoderma. From the genus I know, unfortunately, only H. commune and rubi, both caulicol.

Re : On Quercus robur petioles
Dear Peter,
I suspected about Hypoderma, but can't get to species. I read that this is hard to identify.
This fungus wasn't exactly on petiole, but a bit inside, but still on central leaf nervure.
Thanks for helping.
Regards,
Elsa

Re : On Quercus robur petioles
I think that is Hypoderma. I don't think that there is a modern key to this genus. There is an unpublished PhD thesis by Paul E. Powell to Cornell University 1974. It is sometimes helpful. It lists H. ilicinum, H. rubi complex and an "H. taxonomic sp. 1" as being on Quercus. I recently tried to determine some material from Florida on Quercus and could not decide between H. ilicinum and H. rubi. I put a tentative name of H. rubi on the specimen.
