Hello
Is anyone able to tell from these photos if this is G arenicola or some other species of Geopora. The part submerged cup was in damp soil. The spores were on average 24x13 with two large guttules. Paraphyses slightly swollen at the tip.
Thanks
Mal

Re : Geopora
Hola Mal, creo que la Geopora arenicola debería presentar esporas de mayor tamaño, con un tamaño esporal parecido tengo un estudio que determiné que se trataba de Geopora cervina, en mi caso las esporas daban unas medidas de:
(21.1) 22.6 - 25.2 (28.9) × (10.8) 11.7 - 12.9 (13.4) µm
Q = (1.8) 1.9 - 2.1 (2.2) ; N = 20
Me = 23.9 × 12.2 µm ; Qe = 2
Aunque de media las medidas parecen encajar, no me cuadra la morfología de las esporas de tu trabajo.
Te dejo una imagen de mi estudio de la supuesta Geopora cervina.
Saludos cordiales.

Re : Geopora
hola Josep
I will try and get more spores and get a better average.
The sizes do seem to vary between the different keys I have.

Re : Geopora
Hola Josep
From a spore drop I ended up with 23.06-25.38 x 12.44-13.97 and an average 24.23 x 13.38. Q value 1.81. These figures don't fit with G cervina or G arenicola in Ascomiceti d'Italia. Could be either species in Spooners Geopora in the UK. Nordic Macromycetes has the width as 10.5-13 for G cervina and 10-13.5 for G arenicola.
Very close but unless there is a new study or key out there G arenicola does look the closest but only by a very small margin.
Thanks for your input.
Mal
