Cistella on decomposing wood of Picea abies
Filip Fuljer, 12-11-2020 10:08
Filip FuljerHello everyone,

I found two days ago some Cistella species, which I can not exactly identificate.
Apothecium occurred in the decomposting, but still staying trunk of Picea abies in the northwestern part of Slovakia (National Reservation) in app. 950 m. altitude.
Ap. - up to 0,5 mm broad, slightly yellowish coloured (creamy), specimens which grew in shady parts of wood were more yellow.
Spores – ellipsoid, with thinner ends, (5.5-) 5.7 – 7.8 (-7.9) x (2-) 2.1 – 2.6 (2.7) µm
Asci – bb+ in Lugol r. (IKI+), cylindrical with hemisphaerical endings, 37.1 – 42.8 x 4.9 – 5.8 µm
Paraphyses – cylindrical, septated. the same broad along the entire length, 35 x 1.8 – 2.4 µm
Hairs – finely warted on the tips, unbranched, tips are slightly inflated, broadness – 3.5 – 4.2 µm

I will be very greatful for any suggestions...

A lot thanks,
Filip

This reminds me of Cistella improvisa, the pale yellow contents in the paraphyses and hairs which are slightly lanceolate, and the coniferous substrate are characteristic.

Hi,

I have some collections of Cistella (cf.) improvisa from Finland. I'd be interested in sequencing this sample if possible?
