From feedback I received in other fora the species seems to be the polyphagous Dothideomycete Stigmatodiscus oculatus.

This was growing on carob in the Mediterranean close to coast. At first I thought it was a lichenised Arthonia but was surprised to find large, brown, 3-septate spores in its arthonoid-looking apothecia. The whitish thallus which is not always evident is K- C-. This did not key in to any corticolous lichen I am familar with. I am suspecting it is a non-lichenised fungus. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
