Aleuria bicucullata or congrex?
Marc Detollenaere, 16-09-2023 16:21
Marc DetollenaereDuring a walk in a mixed forest , one of my friends found a number of small yellow to orange cups of about 2-3mm on naked soil.
The fruitbodies I took home were still young and contained mostly oval spores without ornementation of 12-12.5x7.5µ, with 2 large guttules. I also found a few spores with prominent crests. The spores he sent me had also high ridges and had the same size.No reaction with Lugol.
The spore size matches with bicucullata but the paraphyses bent over like a cane what is not describe in Van Vooren 2014. Is Aleuria congrex with rather small spores an option?

Hi Marc,
Herewith the measurements (without ornamentation) of my three finds of A. cogrex. All measurements were done in water and from mature spores outside the asci!
Best regards,

François

Your collection is partly immature, but the ornamentation visible on the third picture clearly points to A. bicucullata
